Abstract
Management of food supply chain is not so simple in this technological era where consumers are well aware and authorities are more vigilant than in past. This study was conducted in order to understand key risks involved in red meat supply chain and to propose a framework for a more resilient supply chain in order to achieve overall business performance and consumer satisfaction. Methodology of this research is case study based where detail interviews were conducted with experts involved in red meat supply chain from farm to retail and also observations during field visit and secondary data review. Demand of meat is increasing as source of nutrition and as it is highly perishable in nature and also its complex supply chain making it vulnerable to different risks at individual enterprise level includes animals farming to processing, logistics and display at retailer end. Natural and human factors are impacting operations of meat supply chain which includes risks involved at production side, disruption due to environmental factors, institutional polices and logistical operations are major contributor in overall red meat supply chain risks. Study not only identify key risks involved at different stages at operational and policies level but also carefully adopt strategies to make supply chain resilient in order to achieve business performance and profitability.
